Butler Recap: Slone, Swan, Sherman and DeVault take wins on Old Timer's Night

QUINCY — It was another exciting night of racing at Butler Motor Speedway this past Saturday as the popular track not only hosted intense racing action in the traditional four divisions, but they also hosted Old Timer’s Night.

A number of drivers from the past made the trip to take yet another trek around everyone’s favorite dirt track as cars from a host of different generations wowed the crowd with some bonus racing. Among one of the past favorites was the Hurrying Hoosier himself, Hank Lower who took laps at Butler well into his 80s, taking the checked flag in his #37 Sprint Car.

Going from one of the most dominant racers in his day to a young man who secured his first feature win, it was Austin Slone securing his first career feature win in the Front Wheel Drive (FWD) Division. Taking second place was the car driven by Dominic Morehouse, followed by Cody Kipp in third place, Kaleb Hinkley in fourth place, and Aaron VanPelt in fifth place.

Kaitlin Kipp secured the win in the B-Main to advance to the feature where she finished sixth place. Heat Race wins went to Cody Kipp and Kaleb Hinkley.

Going from a young man that took his first feature win to a driver who secured his fourth straight, it was Eric Swan once again proving to be at the top of the class in the Street Stock Division. Swan won for the fourth straight time on Saturday, beating Kody Conner to the line who took runner-up honors. Kaleb Wilber finished in third place followed by Jake Wilber in fourth place and Mike Kulikowski in fifth place.

Heat Race wins went to Eric Swan and Mike Vandermark.

In the UMP Modified Division, the #65 car of Todd Sherman taking the victory, his first feature win of the summer. Steve Shellenberger finished in second place, followed by Josh Lolmaugh in third place, Dylan Woodling in fourth place, and Bobby Stremme in fifth place.

The B-Main win went to Corey Bevard who finished in seventh place in the A-main, while Heat Race wins went to Josh Lolmaugh, Steve Shellenberger, and Todd Sherman.

To round out the night it was Zane DeVault leading flag to flag, going on to take the checkered flag in the Sprint Car Feature, out racing Tylar Rankin for the win. With Rankin in second place it was Trey McGranahan finishing in third place, followed by Thomas Schinderle in fourth place and Logan Easterday in fifth place.

Heat Race wins went to Mark Aldrich, Tylar Rankin and Boston Mead.
