Buy this $26M ranch near California’s central coast, own highest peak in mountain range
A large Monterey County ranch for sale for $26 million not only overlooks the Carmel and Salinas valleys, but encompasses the highest peak in the Sierra de Salinas range, according to the listing agency California Outdoor Properties.
“If you buy the ranch, you own the peak,” a company representative said in an email.
The Boekenoogen Carmel Valley Ranch covers more than 9,800 acres and includes a 3,000-square-foot main house with cathedral ceilings, large windows, amazing views and a custom kitchen.
The property, located along California’s central coast at 38633 Carmel Valley Road, is the most expensive real estate listing of its kind in the Carmel Valley, according to realtor.com.
“The ranch is far enough away to get out of the crowds, and the size gives you the feeling and reality that you are removed from it all with amazing privacy, unsurpassed views, and nature at its best,” according to the property listing.
The incredible property includes a second, 800-square-foot ranch house, a hay barn and a 7-acre vineyard.
The wine grapes are a mix of Cabernet Franc, Grenache, Marsanne, Roussanne Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel. The 8-year-old vines are in the fifth year of harvest, in the ground for 8 years, according to the listing.
The natural surroundings of the ranch include the 4,600-foot Palo Escrito Peak in the Sierra de Salinas range, according to a map provided by California Outdoor Properties showing the property line.
“At this point, you are on top of the world with views in every direction; it’s simply breathtaking,” the listing says.
The ranch features several springs, creeks and ponds and tons of wildlife, including blacktail deer, wild boar, turkeys, dove, quail and wild pigeons.
The current owners have been running 200 to 400 head of cattle on the property.
The entire ranch falls under the Williamson Act, which provides tax benefits through land conservation to the owners.
