Buying liquor this week? Triangle ABC store hours change for Thanksgiving holiday

If you’re hoping to make a festive beverage this Thanksgiving season, you’ll need to plan ahead and get your liquor before the holiday.

You can only buy liquor at ABC stores in North Carolina, and those will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.

Here’s what North Carolina’s ABC Commission says about when liquor can be bought or sold in the state: “No ABC store shall be open, and no ABC store employee shall sell alcoholic beverages, on any Sunday, New Year’s Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day. A local board may otherwise determine the days on which its stores shall be closed.”

▪ What about beer and wine? Grocery stores and convenience stores open on Thanksgiving Day can sell beer and wine. You can still buy liquor by the drink at bars and restaurants on holidays.

Wake County ABC liquor store Thanksgiving hours

▪ Wake County ABC stores will be open normal hours from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. from Monday through Wednesday.

▪ The stores will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday Nov. 23.

▪ The stores will reopen Friday, Nov. 24, and operate under normal hours (from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.).

Durham County ABC liquor store Thanksgiving hours

▪ Durham County ABC stores will be open normal hours 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. from Monday through Wednesday.

▪ The stores will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday Nov. 23.

▪ The stores will reopen Friday, Nov. 24, and operate under normal hours.

▪ Orange County ABC stores will be open normal hours from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. from Monday through Wednesday.

▪ The stores will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday Nov. 23.

▪ The stores will reopen Friday, Nov. 24, and operate under normal hours.
