Oct. 11—The Boulder Public Library will celebrate the life and art of local children's book author and illustrator Steve Jenkins.

The exhibition honoring the late Jenkins, "What Do You Do With a Tail Like This? Celebrating the Life and Art of Steve Jenkins," will be on display in the Canyon Gallery at the main library, 101 Arapahoe Ave. in Boulder, from Oct. 13 to Dec. 3. An opening reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. Oct. 20.

The gallery will display many of Jenkins' illustrations from his children's books. Jenkins, who died in 2021, wrote over 50 books. According to a release, his books were inspired by a child's natural curiosity about the world around them. Jenkin's wife, Robin Page, whom he wrote many books with, helped curate the exhibition.

"His unique illustrations spark wonder in children and adults alike," Library Program and Events Manager Jaime Kopke said in the release.
