Bystander shot and injured in downtown Austin overnight, police say
Someone shot a bystander in downtown Austin around 1:50 a.m. Saturday in the 600 block of Trinity Street, Austin police said.
The shooter pointed a gun at an individual, but a bystander was shot instead, police said. The injured woman and witnesses reported the shooting, and the victim went to a local hospital.
Austin Police Department could not specify the severity of the woman's injury at this time. Police did not have a description of the suspect or a vehicle.
The department's aggravated assault unit will investigate the shooting, police said.
