Céline Dion Praises Lady Gaga in Powerful Essay: 'One of the Most Inventive Artists' Ever

Céline Dion is Lady Gaga‘s biggest fan!

The legendary singer, 51, penned a tribute to Gaga in the latest issue of TIME as the A Star Is Born actress, 33, was honored in the magazine’s annual 100 most influential people list.

In her touching essay, Dion praised Gaga, saying that she has one of the “greatest voices in the world.”

“She’s definitely one of the most inventive artists we’ve ever seen,” Dion wrote. “Her artistic expression has no rules, no boundaries. When she first came on the scene with her outrageous style, she didn’t care what the critics said. She marched to the beat of her own drum, knowing that her message of individuality was a way to express her inner strength.”

The singer continued: “What makes her even more special, and such a powerful influence on society, is that she empowers her fans to adopt the very same values in their lives — to stand up for what they believe in, despite what others might think.”

“Whether it’s her unstoppable support for the LGBTQ community, or her anti-bullying campaigning, Lady Gaga’s voice is being heard where it really counts,” Dion added.

Dion finished by saying that Gaga’s legacy “reaches well beyond show business. She will continue to inspire love and freedom around the world, for generations to come.”

It’s no surprise that the two performers are friends.

In December, Dion was caught rocking out to Gaga’s Enigma Las Vegas residency concert in what quickly became a viral video.

On Dec. 30, Dion was captured in multiple videos posted by fellow Enigma attendees showing off her dance moves and enthusiastically singing along in the crowd in Las Vegas.

According to a speech that Gaga made onstage during the show, the “My Heart Will Go On” chanteuse also joined the headliner behind the scenes before the concert began.

“She inspired my performance,” Gaga said when later asked about the clip. “I watched that video after I did that show, and then the next night when I sang ‘The Edge of Glory’ I was doing all the moves that Céline was doing because she outperformed me while I was singing! She’s an icon! And you know what is so wonderful? She is so kind.”
