C-M boys track faces tough field at Martensdale-St. Marys

Apr. 24—MARTENSDALE — Colfax-Mingo's boys track and field team had a tough time scoring points against a strong field at the Martensdale-St. Marys High School Boys Invitational on Thursday.

The Tigerhawks claimed six top-six finishes and scored 13 points to finish 11th in the 12-team field.

The top individual finish came from Justin Myers, who was fourth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.77 seconds.

Myers also anchored the Tigerhawks to a fourth-place finish in the 4x400 relay. The team of Carter Gibson, A.J. Gibson, Colton Hernandez and Myers finished the race in 3 minutes, 44.78 seconds.

Bondurant-Farrar won the team title with 122 points while Madrid (112), ADM (92), Indianola (68) and Albia (47) all were in the top five.

The rest of the field included Lenox (31), Nodaway Valley (27), Martensdale-St. Marys (26), Pleasantville (22), Interstate 35 (19) and Southeast Warren (10).

Carter Gibson finished fifth in the 400 with a time of 55.54 seconds.

The 4x200, sprint medley and shuttle hurdle relay teams were all sixth.

In the 4x200, the team of Joe Earles, Zach Steenhoek, Noah Strohmeyer and A.J. Gibson finished in 1:40.5. The sprint medley relay foursome of Hernandez, A.J. Gibson, Myers and Carter Gibson finished in 1:44.73. In the shuttle hurdle relay, Josh Kite, Conner Wood, Trey Hockemeier and Hernandez completed the race in 1:15.86.
