Cabarrus County juvenile center employee arrested for strangulation

CONCORD, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A staff member at a Cabarrus County youth development center was charged with strangling a juvenile there, according to the sheriff’s office.

Cabarrus County deputies say that they received a report from the Department of Social Services of an assault at the Stonewall Jackson Youth Development Center on Old Charlotte Road SW.

Dana Lassiter was charged with assault by strangulation. He was placed in the Cabarrus County Detention Center under a $5,000 bond.

Lassiter has been employed with the county since 2017. The investigation reportedly involved cooperation with Stonewall Jackson Director Peter Brown and facility administration.
