Cabool woman dies in Highway 63 crash after vehicle hydroplanes
A woman is dead after her car hydroplaned on Highway 63 near Cabool and crossed the center line on Wednesday afternoon, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Cabool resident Christie Smith, 48, was traveling north at 1:15 p.m. when MSHP said she lost control of her Chevy Avalanche on the wet road, colliding with a southbound Chevy Suburban.
Smith was pronounced dead shortly after the collision. Her 23-year-old passenger was life-flighted to a Springfield hospital. The driver of the suburban suffered moderate injuries.
This was MSHP Troop G's 20th fatality of the year.
