The Cabot Announces Big Names For Beverly Fall 'Porch Sessions'

BEVERLY, MA — Casey Soward hinted with a touch of glee and anticipation at some big-name acts coming to the intimate, 40-person seating at Hale Farm as part of The Cabot Street Cinema Theater this fall when he recently spoke to Patch about how The Cabot is making it through the coronavirus health crisis that has closed the main theater.

On Tuesday, The Cabot announced those shows — which lived up to the hype —with Chelsea Berry, Jon Butcher, Martin Sexton and Ryan Montbleau headed to the city during October.

The Loring Family, friends of The Cabot and Historic Beverly sponsor the series. Proceeds from The Porch Sessions concerts will go to support The Cabot's reopening and Historic Beverly.

The shows are limited to 40 people at the downtown Beverly farm with social distancing in place for tables, and food from A&B Burger of Beverly and beer from RiverWalk Brewing Co. served.

"The Porch Sessions have been a way help people reconnect and take a break with all of the craziness out there," Soward told Patch two weeks ago.

Berry will play two shows on Saturday, Butcher will play two shows on Oct. 10, Sexton will play a show on Oct. 17 and Montbleau will play two shows on Oct. 24. Tickets for the second shows added from Butcher and Montbleau go on sale on Thursday at 10 a.m.

Berry is a singer-songwriter who has toured nationally in support of Livingston Taylor, Ellis Paul, Chris Smither and Mavis Staples.

Butcher was a notable electric guitarist in the Boston music scene who emerged out the 1980s and whose record "Wishes" peaked at No. 77 on the Billboard charts in 1987.

Sexton is a singer-songwriter and producer who has released nine studio albums after getting his start in the streets and subways of Boston in the early 1990s. He has headlined The Fillmore and Carnegie Hall.

Montbleau is a Massachusetts native who shared bills with the Tedeschi Trucks Band, Ani DiFranco and Mavis Staples.

One, final Porch Sessions show will be announced for Oct. 31.
