Caddo Commissioner Steven Jackson pleads not guilty to impersonating a cop

On Feb. 28, 2023, Commissioner Steven Jackson pleaded not guilty to impersonating a police officer in Judge Charles Smith's court in Bossier Parish.

Jackson's attorney Courtney N. Harris said, "at this time there are a lot of facts that are still in the process of the discovery phase of this case, and we're confident that once that discovery is produced, and we present the other side of this case that Mr. Jackson will be exonerated of these charges. As you know everything that's been presented thus far has only been one-sided."

This arraignment comes five days after the courts released the Bill of Information which stated that Jackson did "equip a motor vehicle with lights and sirens to simulate law enforcement with intent to injure, defraud, obtain or secure any special privilege or advantages. "

Jackson turned himself into the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023, after a felony arrest warrant was filed against him for impersonating a police officer.

It was reported that on Nov. 4, 2022, Bossier City Police received a complaint alleging that an individual in an unmarked police model SUV identified himself as a police officer after he became involved in a disagreement that took place in the business’s parking lot in the 3100 block of Airline Drive.

Through a lengthy investigation, detectives determined that Jackson was the individual who identified himself as a member of law enforcement.

Harris said, "there is another side of this story that has yet to be told."
