Caesars Southern Indiana marks 25 years: 5 things to know about the riverside casino
Longtime entertainment venue Caesars Southern Indiana is marking its 25th year this November.
First opened in 1998 as a riverboat, then known as Horseshoe Southern Indiana, the casino and hotel on the banks of the Ohio River celebrated its quarter-century anniversary on Monday.
Fifty million visitors have walked through the doors of the destination, 11999 Casino Center Drive, about 25 minutes from downtown Louisville in Elizabeth, Indiana.
Here are five things to know about the venue.
Caesars Southern Indiana is more than a casino
Spread over 110,000-square-feet of casino space are more than 1,000 gaming machines and nearly 90 table games. In its history, more than $2.7 billion has been paid out in jackpots.
The property also includes a 503-room hotel, 24,000 square-feet of meeting space in addition to a handful of bar and restaurant options, plus a pool and spa.
It’s one of southern Indiana's largest employers
More than 1,000 people keep Caesars Southern Indiana running, making it one of southern Indiana’s largest employers.
There are 117 employees who have been with the entertainment destination since its inception in 1998 and some 240 who have worked there for at least 20 years
Gordon Ramsay Steak has a home at Caesars Southern Indiana
One of the biggest names in the food industry opened a restaurant at Caesars earlier this year.
Gordon Ramsay Steak restaurant, which opened in January and seats 170, features a menu crafted by Ramsay himself and includes beef wellington, sticky toffee pudding and fresh seafood options.
The 6,051-square-foot fine-dining restaurant has décor inspired by the Michelin-starred chef’s U.K. roots and includes private dining rooms.
Have an electric vehicle? Charge up
The business added free electric vehicle charging stations to the property last November. The charging stations are located in two parking garages and are free to hotel and casino patrons, who can monitor EV charging progress using a mobile phone app.
Caesars Southern Indiana has a riverboat history
The current land-based casino opened in late 2019 — a $90 million project — four years after the Indiana General Assembly approved such casinos. The casino previously operated on "the boat" — the Glory of Rome riverboat on the Ohio River.
EBCI Holdings, a company run by the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians tribe, acquired Caesars Southern Indiana from Caesars Entertainment in September 2021 for $250 million. VICI Properties owns the real estate while EBCI Holdings handles operations.
