Calabasas Library To Close Until February

CALABASAS, CA — The Calabasas library will close for the remainder of January as COVID-19 cases spike throughout the city and country.

The library closed Thursday and will remain shut until Feb. 1.

"With the Omicron variant spreading so quickly, we are being extra careful. Out of an abundance of caution, the Library will be closed through the rest of the month," the city said in a Tweet.

Book pick-ups can still be arranged by appointment. To make an appointment or a renewal, call 818-225-7616 extension 2.

You can put an item on hold using the library's online catalogue or by calling 818-225-7616 extension 3. Book drops will remain open, but the library will not be accepting material donations.

Calabasas had 3,215 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 as of Wednesday, an increase of 227 cases in just one week, according Los Angeles County public health data. Meanwhile, hospitalization and death rates continue to rise throughout the county; on Wednesday, the county saw 58 new COVID-19 deaths and nearly 100 new hospitalizations.
