Caldwell County celebrates Halloween

Oct. 25—LENOIR — In the interest of keeping children safe this Halloween, families are invited to participate in a variety of kid-friendly activities across Caldwell County.

Thursday, Oct. 27

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute's Caldwell Campus (2855 Hickory Blvd., Hudson) will host a Trunk-or-Treat event from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Students, faculty, and staff will hand out treats and provide a fun, free event for the community. There will be inflatables and food trucks on campus, as well. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The Lenoir branch of the Caldwell County Library (120 Hospital Ave NE, Lenoir) will host Halloween Games. Play Halloween games to earn candy and prizes at this floating event. This event will be held in the lower level of the parking lot at the Lenoir Library and will be weather-permitting.

Friday, Oct. 28

Join Tybrisa Books (210 N Main Street, Lenoir) on Friday, Oct. 28 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for Trick-or-Treating and a costume contest.

Downtown Lenoir will have trick-or-treating and the Mad Hatter's Pumpkin Patch Parade starting at 3 p.m. Families are welcome to walk around downtown Lenoir to visit businesses and merchants to collect treats, create Halloween hats, enjoy face painters and balloon artists, crafts, and join in an actual parade. Participating businesses will have balloons outside their location. Children age 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Caldwell Heritage Museum (112 Vaiden Street, Lenoir) will host the final "Ghosties, Goblins, and Stories that Go BUMP in the Night" at 7 p.m. This will be the last night and will showcase stories of the mountains, foothills, the Brown Mountain Lights, and some Native American stories. Light snacks will be provided. Cost is $5 per person.

Collettsville Fire and Rescue (5430 Adako Road, Lenoir) will host the second annual Trucks and Treats Halloween event and Facebook costume contest from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. There will be games for the kids, a variety of public service and emergency agencies, as well as their vehicles on display. Come meet some of your local first responders, learn fire safety, and load up with candy. All costume photos will be posted on the Collettsville Fire and Rescue Facebook page after the event, and the costume with the most likes by 5 p.m on Halloween will be the winner.

Saturday, Oct. 29

Ebenezer UMC (4948 Burns Rd., Granite Falls) will host a trunk-or-treat from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Church members will be dressing up their truck beds and car trunks in scary ways to give out lots of free candy. They will also be serving free hot dogs with brownies and cookies.

The Lenoir Cruisers will be having a special Halloween-themed cruise-in from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. in downtown Lenoir. This cruise-in is a reschedule of the cruise-in that was canceled on Oct. 1 due to weather conditions.

Carolina Coffee Cafe and Cereal Bar (3014 Hickory Blvd, Hudson) will host a kid's Halloween dance party and costume contest from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Treat bags will be given away with coupons.

Sunday, Oct. 30

College Avenue Baptist Church (1201 College Avenue SW, Lenoir) will host a Fall-o-ween Jesus Festival from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. There will be free hotdogs, treat bags for children, and games. The event will be in the Youth Building behind the church. For more information, call the church office at 754-6482 Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Beginning at 5 p.m., the public is invited to bring the whole family to trunk-or-treat at Harris Chapel Baptist Church (1444 Cajah Mtn. Rd., Hudson).

Grace Chapel United Methodist Church (4336 Grace Chapel Road, Granite Falls) will host a Track-n-Treat event at the Grace Chapel walking track. This free event will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. For more information, visit www.gracechapelumc.org.

Monday, Oct. 31

The Martin Luther King Jr. Center (313 Greenhaven Dr. NW, Lenoir) will host a drive-thru trunk-or-Treat starting at 5 p.m.

There will be a trunk-or-treat at Baird Park (4072 Baird Dr, Sawmills) from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with bounce houses, hot dogs, and more.

Bo's Boo-dacious Trunk-or-Treat event, hosted at Bo's Family Entertainment (1115 Blowing Rock Blvd, Lenoir), will take place in the parking lot from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Additionally, residents 21 years and older can enjoy some fun festivities.

Friday, Oct. 28

The Caldwell Senior Center (Satie and J.E. Broyhill Caldwell Senior Center), located at 650-A Pennton Ave, Lenoir, will provide games, treats, and information for seniors from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Interested individuals may dress up and enter the costume contest or just come enjoy some fun. The agency providers will judge the costume contest and a prize will go to the winner. Please call 758-2883 or go online to register.

Caldwell Heritage Museum staff will be at the Senior Center as part of their Halloween Carnival. The museum will open at 12:30 p.m.

Milky Roots Studio (626 Harper Ave, Lenoir) will host a Halloween gathering starting at 7 p.m.

Saturday, Oct. 29

Join the HUB Station (145 Cedar Valley Road, Hudson) for an adults-only (21+) Halloween costume party. The night will kick off at 7 p.m. with craft beverages to purchase from 3 Doors Down Beverage Co. Two food trucks will also be on site. The main attraction, Ace Party Band, will start playing at 7:30 p.m. This five-piece band performs genres spanning the past 50 years, from Beach and Motown to Top 40s, Pop, Rock, Hip Hop, R&B, Country, and Jazz. Tickets are on sale now. The first 75 tickets sold are only $15. Prices to increase to $20 after early-bird tickets are gone.

Twisted Vine Winery (487 Legion Road, Lenoir) will host their eighth annual Hallowine party from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Darren Bryant will be rocking it outside, and Bubba and Mert's food trucks will also be set up. Jeannie Hawkins, artist and entertainer, will be set up with Halloween painting kits for guests to either take or make at the winery! There will be a costume contest starting at 5 p.m.

Liquid Roots Brewing Project (1048 Harper Ave NW, Lenoir) will host a Halloween party and costume contest from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. There will be a single winner and best couple/group costume. Winners get a Liquid Roots Gift Card.

Caldwell County provides a large number of opportunities for children, adults, and families to enjoy beautiful fall weather and spooky Halloween festivities.
