Caledonia woman dies after three-vehicle crash on Likens Road
A Marion County woman died following a three-vehicle crash that occurred Wednesday afternoon on Likens Road.
Troopers from the Marion Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that Ruth A. Salceda, age 79, Caledonia, died at OhioHealth Marion General Hospital following the crash that was called in to the Marion County Combined Dispatch Center at 5:08 p.m. on Wednesday. Marion Township EMS transported Salcedo to the hospital after the crash.
According to troopers, two cars and an SUV were involved in the crash at the junction of Likens Road and Pole Lane Road. Timothy O. Jarvis, age 61, Marion, was driving a 2016 Nissan Altima westbound on Likens Road, while Noah J. Schriml, age 23, Marion, was driving a 2012 Honda Civic southbound on Pole Lane Road. Joshua M. Coleman, age 40, Marion, was stopped on Likens Road on the west side of Pole Lane Road, facing east.
Troopers said Jarvis failed to stop at the stop sign on Pole Lane Road and drove into the intersection where he struck Schriml’s vehicle, which traveled off the southwest side of the intersection and came to rest in a field. Jarvis' vehicle then spun, crossed the center line, and struck Coleman's GMC Yukon parked on the side of the road.
Troopers said that Schriml suffered "serious injuries" and was transported from the scene by MedFlight to Grant Medical Center in Columbus. No information about his condition has been made available.
Coleman suffered "minor injuries," according to troopers. He was treated at OhioHealth Marion General Hospital and was discharged on Wednesday, according to a hospital spokesperson.
Jarvis suffered "possible injuries," according to troopers. No information about his condition was available.
Becky S. Manley, age 56, Marion, a passenger in Jarvis' vehicle, suffered "minor injuries," according to troopers. She was treated at OhioHealth Marion General Hospital and was discharged on Wednesday, according to a hospital spokesperson.
Salcedo was also a passenger in Jarvis' vehicle.
The crash remains under investigation, troopers said.
