Jun. 29—Two legendary figures in the annals of the UConn men's basketball program can now add another accomplishment to their résumés.

Former head coach Jim Calhoun and two-time All-American Richard Hamilton are part of the nine-member National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2022, which was announced Wednesday afternoon.

The 2022 induction ceremony will be held November 20 in Kansas City, Missouri as part of National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame Weekend.

Calhoun served as head coach of the Huskies from 1986-2012 after spending 14 seasons at Northeastern.

He, along with former coach and fellow inductee Roy Williams, was initially recognized as part of the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame's inaugural class in 2006 and will be formally inducted this year.

Calhoun went 625-243 at UConn and led the Huskies to 16 NCAA tournament berths, four Final Fours and three national championships: the program's first in 1999, 2004 and 2011.

He is one of six coaches in Division I history with at least three national titles.

UConn also won seven Big East tournament titles, 10 Big East regular season championships and the 1988 NIT tournament under Calhoun.

Calhoun retired from UConn before the 2012-13 season. He returned to coaching in 2018, leading the Division III University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford until his second retirement in November.

Over 44 seasons, Calhoun posted a 920-397 record. His win total puts him sixth all-time across all NCAA divisions.

He was previously inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2005.

Hamilton played for the Huskies from 1996-99 and was an integral part of UConn's first national championship team as a junior in 1999.

He was a consensus first-team All-American, Big East Player of the Year and the Final Four Most Outstanding Player. In the national championship victory over Duke, Hamilton scored a game-high 27 points.

Hamilton was also the 1997-98 Big East Player of the Year and a two-time All-Big East First Team selection.

Hamilton played 103 games at UConn. He ranks second all-time in career points (2,036) and third in career scoring average (19.8).

Hamilton went on to play 14 seasons in the NBA with Washington, Detroit and Chicago. He was a three-time all-star and won an NBA championship with the Pistons in 2004.

Joining Calhoun and Hamilton in the Class of 2022 are former players Larry Miller (North Carolina), Frank Selvy (Furman) and Jimmy Walker (Providence), as well as former coaches Williams, Lon Kruger, John Beilein and Jerry Krause.

Ticket information for the Class of 2022 induction ceremony will be announced at a later date. For additional information, fans can visit www.halloffameweekend.com.
