California Gov. Gavin Newsom: ‘We’ve got to allow parents to go back to work’

Gov. Gavin Newsom of California tells TODAY that if the state reopens too quickly, “I’m worried we can erase all the gains” they’ve made against the coronavirus pandemic. He discusses possible plans to begin the fall school term in July “to address learning loss,” adding that to restart the state’s economy, “we’ve got to allow parents to go back to work who can’t afford child care.”
