A California man has been arrested for the alleged murder of a 9-year-old girl who was found dead inside a duffel bag, authorities said.

Emiel Hunt, 38, is believed to be the boyfriend of the mother of Trinity Love Jones, whose identity was confirmed Sunday after her body was found a week ago inside a duffel bag, said the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department in a statement released Tuesday.

Hunt was arrested Saturday after he was found asleep in his car parked near San Diego International Airport, police said. On Tuesday, he was charged with murder.

KTLA reports Hunt has a prior conviction for child abuse in San Diego County in 2005, and served at least 10 years in prison.

Hunt's bail was set at $2 million, police said. He will be arraigned on April 16, reports KTLA.

Authorities say Jones' body was found on March 5 inside a duffel bag along an equestrian trail in the Hacienda Heights neighborhood. The girl was wearing a pink, long-sleeve shirt with the phrase "Future princess hero" that appeared to have princess crossed out, and gray panda print pants, said the sheriff's office.

The sheriff's department said it is withholding information on a second person of interest detained in the case pending further investigation.
