These California restaurants are some of the best in US, Yelp says. See who made the list
Yelp reviewers have spoken: California is home to some of the best burger joints, sandwich shops and pizzerias in the nation.
More than 20 restaurants across California earned spots on Yelp’s 2024 list of Top 100 Places to Eat in the U.S., stretching from the Sacramento area to the Central Coast to San Diego.
Sunny Side Kitchen in Escondido, known for its handcrafted panini, salads and soups, was the highest-ranked California restaurant on Yelp’s list at No. 3, while an Ethiopian restaurant, GS Cafe and Ethiopian Cuisine in Covina, took fourth place.
Hawaiian-Asian fusion restaurant Broken Mouth | Lee’s Homestyle, based in Los Angeles, came in sixth place and Sierra Subs and Salads sandwich shop in Three Rivers landed at No. 8.
Agoura Hills sandwich spot Uncle Af’s rounded out the top 10.
News of the restaurants’ Yelp rankings spread across social media, with several customers offering their congratulations.
In an Instagram post, Sierra Subs told fans it was “honored, humbled, and excited to be included. We couldn’t do it without all of you!”
How did Yelp choose its Top 100 Places to Eat in the U.S.?
To come up the 2024 restaurant list, Yelp’s data science team “analyzed user submissions to determine the top restaurants by ratings, number of reviews and volume of submissions,” the site said.
Yelp finalized the rankings with the help of its community managers.
