California's Oak Fire Burns Almost 17,000 Acres
The Oak fire burning in California’s Mariposa County had spread to 16,791 acres (about 26 square miles) and was at 10 percent containment by Monday, July 25, according to Cal Fire.
In a report posted on Monday morning, Cal Fire said crews made “good headway” on the fire, which began on Friday in the Sierra Nevada foothills near Yosemite National Park.
The National Weather Service said that smoke from the Oak fire was “producing widespread moderate to unhealthy air quality” in the area.
