Call the Midwife cast reunite to give "special message" to fans

Call the Midwife stars Stephen McGann, Laura Main and the rest of their on-screen family have reunited to share a "special message" with fans.
In a video posted on the official Call the Midwife Instagram account, McGann and Main appeared dressed in character as Patrick and Shelagh Turner, asking fans to vote for the series in the upcoming National Television Awards.
They were joined by their on-screen children, Max Macmillan (Timothy Turner), April Rae Hoang (May Turner), Ned Shaw (Teddy Turner) and Alice Brown (Angela Turner).

"Hello, we've got some fantastic news, Call the Midwife has been nominated in the shortlist for the National Television Awards," begins McGann in the video address.
"But not only is Call the Midwife up for returning drama, Judy Parfitt is up for drama performance and she plays sister Monica Joan absolutely brilliantly and is so deserving of that," adds Main.
The oldest of their on-screen children, Macmillan, then goes on to ask for fans' "help" by voting for the show and Parfitt via the NTAs website, adding: "It would be hugely appreciated".

The family of six signs off with a cheer as McGann asks the youngsters: "Who needs to win the NTA awards, kids?"
"Call the Midwife," they enthusiastically respond.
The post's caption teased the Turner family's "special message" which was filmed on set in front of St Wilburs primary school, which is adjacent to Nonnatus House.
Filming for Call the Midwife season 13 began in May of this year, as confirmed in a tweet shared by the show's official Twitter account.

Call the Midwife faces competition from Happy Valley, Vera, and Stranger Things in the NTA's Best Returning Drama category.
Meanwhile, actress Judy Parfitt is up against Sarah Lancashire and James Norton for their performances in Happy Valley, plus Queen Charlotte's India Ria Amarteifio and Vera's Brenda Blethyn.
Voting in the NTAs closes at 12pm on September 5, with the awards ceremony airing live that evening at 8pm on ITV1.
Call the Midwife will return to BBC One for its annual Christmas special later this year, with all 12 seasons now available to stream over on BBC iPlayer. Season 13 is on its way.
The National Television Awards will air live on ITV1 and ITVX at 8pm on September 5.
