Call the Midwife has marked the end of filming for series 13 with a cute photo from the set.

The period medical drama has just wrapped up production on its latest run, which is likely to air in early 2024, following in the footsteps of previous years.

An Instagram post features a new photo of Georgie Glen as Miss Higgins, and while we could scour the set for clues about plot hints, our eyes are drawn to that incredibly colourful clapperboard.

The caption reads: "LATEST! It's a wrap on Call the Midwife Series 13 filming!!

"This wonderful shot of Georgie Glen (Miss Higgins) has just been sent to us live from the set of Call the Midwife, where the very final scene of Series 13 has just been completed!! We just CAN'T wait to show you what we've been working on.

"Now the countdown begins to... THE CHRISTMAS SPECIAL!! Call the Midwife returns soon with a new Christmas Special, and Series 13 in 2024 xx."

The show's official Instagram page shared another photo from the set just a few days before, showcasing the Turner children in what is said to be "a rather lovely sequence" from episode 8.

Another recent post seemed to tease an upcoming storyline that sounds like it could be eventful for a fan-favourite character.

"Call the Midwife is no stranger to fireworks," the post read, "and no Poplar light show would be complete without Fred Buckle risking life and limb in the service of his community."

Call the Midwife returns for a Christmas special next month, while series 13 is expected to air early next year.
