GENOA TWP. — A new festival featuring country bands, food trucks, lasso demonstrations, and a look-a-like contest based on the hit TV show "Yellowstone" will debut this Saturday.

With downtown Brighton under construction for the new streetscape, the Greater Brighton Area Chamber of Commerce decided to host its Yellowstone Country Music Festival from 2-10 p.m. Saturday, July 22, at Mt. Brighton, 4141 Bauer Road in Genoa Township.

Tickets — $27 for all-ages — are only available in advance, according to chamber officials. Ticket will not be sold at the door.

Several employees at the chamber earlier this year dressed as iconic characters from "Yellowstone" and created a humorous video spoofing the TV show to announce the new festival on social media.

People attending the festival are encouraged to dress up in western wear. Anyone dressed as a character from "Yellowstone" can enter a look-a-like contest.

"We decided not to have the art festival this year and have this country music festival instead this year, and we hope it will become an annual staple," Chamber President Pam McConeghy told The Daily in January. "We’re making the best of a tough situation, and we’re looking outside the box."

Five country music acts will perform throughout the day, including Nashville recording artists with ties to Michigan and bands from around the state.

  • Double Wide Ride will perform at 4 p.m.

  • Mandi Layne and The Lost Highway will perform at 5:30 p.m.

  • Shiatown will perform at 7 p.m.

  • Mac Watts will perform at 8:30 p.m.
