Pull on your riding chaps and grab yourself a cowboy hat because we have an important announcement!

Fans of Kevin Costner now have the chance to appear as an extra in his new epic Western, Horizon: An American Saga. Costner is producing, writing, and starring in Horizon, a four-film series that will center on the pre and post-civil war settlement of the American West. (If you're a Yellowstone fan, this opportunity it right up your alley!)

Of course, there's no better filming location for such a historical series than against the backdrop of Southern Utah's majestic red rock landscapes. According to St. George News, Maryellen Aviano is looking for extras to fill that backdrop. The Los Angeles casting director is hosting an open call for background actors this weekend in Washington County. So, if you just so happen to be from the area, you're in serious luck.

Horizon isn't Costner's first dive into exploring the history of a specific location. The veteran actor recently hosted a Fox Nation docuseries, Yellowstone: One-Fifty, which explored the national park's history.

Shockingly, the first film of the new Western saga was already filmed last year! Residents of Moab, Utah, probably spotted Costner shooting with the Horizon crew from August to November 2022. How he managed this between Yellowstone season 5 responsibilities and the national park docuseries is absolutely mind-boggling.

Though we don't know much else about the Horizon series, the St. George casting call is for parts two and three and will begin filming in May 2023. Applicants are required to attend an orientation that will cover project details and special abilities, among other things.

Now, you might wonder what "special abilities" means when it comes to Western movies. Los Angeles casting director Maryellen Aviano clarified the matter for St. George News. "If you have a special horseback riding skill, or we have you carry lumber or anything like that, you will always fall into a special ability category," said Aviano. Sounds like the perfect job for Ladd Drummond!
