Caltrain train with 96 aboard strikes vehicle on tracks in Palo Alto

(KRON) — A Caltrain train with 96 passengers aboard struck a vehicle on the tracks in Palo Alto Tuesday, Caltrain said. The Northbound train struck the vehicle at Charleston Road between California Avenue and San Antonio Station at approximately 3:09 p.m.

As of 4:20 p.m., the crossing was reopened to all traffic.

There were no reported injuries and the vehicle is no longer on the tracks, Caltrain said. Transit police remain on the scene.

Caltrain said it has permission to run trains through the incident area on Main Track 2 at a reduced speed of 15 mph. Caltrain said it is expecting 45-minute delays going north and south.
