Former NFL MVP Cam Newton had some harsh words when discussing whether current NFL quarterbacks were game managers or difference makers.

Newton was on his podcast, “4th & 1 with Cam Newton,” talking about how the 49ers were not wining because of Brock Purdy then shifted his attention to Dak Prescott and other quarterbacks he considered game mangers.

“They’re not winning because of [Purdy],” said Newton, “ [Purdy’s] managing the game. And if we were to put that in its own right as game managers, Brock Purdy, Tua Tagovailoa, Jared Goff and really Dak Prescott. These are game managers, not difference makers.”

Newton’s comments sent off a wave of criticism, most notably by ESPN reporter Kimberly Martin who had sharp words for Newton pointing out that he is no longer on an NFL roster.

“Where is Cam? Not on an NFL roster, right? He’s talking about all of these NFL game managers. He sounds like the people literally tweeting at me from their basement like ‘get back in the kitchen.’ Like you are at home, watching me,” said Martin.

Vegas disagrees with Newton as well, listing Prescott as the favorite to win NFL MVP.

This season Prescott has thrown for 3,505 yards with 28 touchdowns and only six interceptions while leading the Cowboys to a 10-3 record.
