Cambodia fights rare coronavirus outbreak

Cambodia is one of the least impacted countries by the coronavirus in the world, with just over 300 cases reported so far and no deaths, but on Monday (November 30) the Prime Minister Hun Sen banned weddings and mass gatherings of more than 20 people, after a rare outbreak over the weekend of community transmission.

So far, there've been 15 positive tests, out of over 3,300, and all have links to a 56-year-old woman who travelled to the country's two biggest cities at the end of November.

It was unclear how the woman, the wife of the country's prisons chief, had become infected.

Private schools and parts of the prisons department, where cases have been found, have also been closed.

The ban on gatherings and suspension of vocational training centres will last for two weeks.
