New Cambria Hotel in CT called South Windsor’s ‘crown jewel in the Evergreen walk area’

There is a new boutique hotel in Connecticut and its goal is to provide an upscale setting with a sense of home to each guest.

The Cambria Hotel in South Windsor is the brand’s second location in Connecticut; the other is in New Haven. The hotel is a franchise through Choice Hotels International, which has grown the Cambria brand since 1996, with 100 hotels around the country, between those already open and those in the process of being built, said owner and president of Radius Hospitality, Scott Yeager. The Cambria brand owns 13 other properties and has a number of different brands,

The new Cambria is a boutique-style hotel with 108 rooms equipped with Keurig coffee makers, a full restaurant and bar, spacious meeting room, patio, fitness room, pool, a la carte breakfast, as well as lifestyle rooms that include LED lighting, and Bluetooth mirrors, Yeager said.

Yeager said that he is pleased that the hotel is now a part of the South Windsor community. The 95,056-square-foot building is on 2.73 acres at 1000 Long Leaf Lane; tax records show it has 73,276-square feet of ‘living space” and its 2022 appraised value is $7,894,400. The owner is listed as RHD South Windsor LLC.

South Windsor Mayor Liz Pendleton said she is grateful that Yeager persisted to bring the hotel to town through the obstacles and the COVID-19 pandemic.

“So we met many, many years ago when the current idea first came up… I just want to say thank you for coming. Thank you for sticking with us,” she said. “Thank you planning and zoning who approved this. Thank you to your staff that I see standing here.”

Yeager, a resident of Ohio, said that he spent the past 15 months coming to town almost every week, as he could not wait to finish this project.

He had begun the project more than five years ago, however there were some unexpected barriers that he and his team had to overcome, such as shortages of people, trains and supplies, Yeager said.

We “love this property, love this brand, love what it represents … It’s a wonderful facility,” Yeager said. “So we chose Cambria and then we chose to really look for the right sites. This became the right site. We loved South Windsor, we loved Evergreen Walk, this will be great for us,” he said.

State Rep. Tom Delnicki, R-South Windsor, said that he was pleased to see the hotel’s official opening.

“This is a crown jewel in the Evergreen Walk area,” Delnicki said. “This truly complements the spirit and the forethought of this lifestyle center.

“And what you bring here … we can use … This is such a great place,” he said. “Having walked through, taking a look at this facility, talking to the people that you have here on your team, everyone is jazzed up about what’s going on here.

“I truly look forward to what great things are going to come from this facility. And for the wonderful staff. Just looking at the smiles from your staff members, they truly are committed to making this the place,” he said.

Cambria Hotel Manager Nicole Zavecz said she hopes that every guest that comes to stay at the Cambria feels a sense of welcome and space to relax in their rooms. To date, she said, guests have been receptive to the new hotel and it has received great feedback.

“Guests have loved it,” she said. “I hope that we have the offerings to make everyone comfortable and to accommodate everyone.”

Assistant General Manager David Perry agreed reception has been positive.

“Everyone has been enjoying that fresh, that new, that modern. It’s just something new,” he said.

He said that he hopes guests coming feel as though they are at “home” away from home.

“We will greet you with a beautiful smile. We want them to just enjoy everything we have to offer. We are full service. We have a bar and restaurant. We just want you to feel the Cambria brand,” he said.
