Cambridge senior Andy Ogle tosses no-hitter in 14-0 rout over Union Local

MORRISTOWN - Cambridge senior Any Ogle tossed his first career no-hitter on Friday, to headline a 14-0 romp over host Union Local in a five innings Buckeye 8 contest.

Ogle finished with six Ks and one walk in five innings of work on the mound.

The Bobcats scored 14 runs on 14 hits scoring in each of the first four innings to improve to 7-2 on the season.

Leading the CHS offense were seniors Caden Moore and Regan Rogers with three hits in the game with Moore smacking a triple, scoring four runs and picking up a pair of RBIs.

Rogers finished his night with three doubles, scored three runs, and drove in three runs. Keaton Kyser and Lucas Parsons each had two hits and scored two runs. Senior Angelo Rocco was one of four players with a hit, and also added a pair of sacrifice flies to lead the team with four RBIs.

NEXT − Cambridge will visit Martins Ferry on Monday at 5 p.m.

Coshocton 14, John Glenn 10

NEW CONCORD − Evan Unger hit the go-ahead, two-run double in the sixth inning to help the Redskins (5-3 MVL) outlast the host Muskies (3-4 MVL) in a high-scoring affair.

Travin Berry had two doubles, a single, four RBIs and four runs scored. Hudson Wesney and Gage Wright each chipped in two singles with three RBIs, Gavin Mathias added three singles and two runs scored. Dalcin Smith had two hits and three runs scored and Unger doubled twice for Coshocton, which led 5-0 after one and 10-4 through four innings.

Colt Emerson homered, singled and knocked in three runs, Jesse Driskel also homered and singled, Aaron Johnson added a single with three RBIs and Robert Woodard hit a single and knocked in two runs for John Glenn, which used a six-run fifth to tie the game at 10.

Winning pitcher Coby Moore had eight strikeouts and five walks and allowed six runs on five hits in 4 1/3 innings, while Justin Stambush was the losing pitcher after giving up four runs on four hits with four strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings.

NEXT −John Glenn will visit Sheridan on Monday with first pitch slated for 5 p.m.

Tri-Valley 10, Meadowbrook 0

DRESDEN − Host Tri-Valley scored seven runs over the first two innings in a shutout of Meadowbrook in a MVL crossover matchup Thursday at Kenny Wolford Park

Hansel Holmes and Caden Leckrone had RBI singles in a three-run first inning for Tri-Valley (6-1 MVL), while Kelynn Drummonds and Brady Kaufman swatted RBI doubles and Bennet Baker ripped a run-scoring triple to highlight a four-run second for Tri-Valley.

Baker knocked in a pair of runs for the Tri-Valley offense, which saw nine players contribute one hit, while Drummonds, Holmes and Nathan Better all scored twice.

Landon Harney earned the victory, holding Meadowbrook to three hits in four scoreless innings. He also struck out nine and walked none.

Casey Clendenning suffered the loss for the Colts (3-8, 3-5 MVL), giving up seven runs on five hits in two innings, while Easton Eibel had a pair of singles and Tye Griffith also singled for the Colts offense.

NEXT − Meadowbrook travels to Morgan on Monday at 5 p.m.

Buckeye Trail 10, Conotton Valley 0

BOWERSTON −Behind a strong effort on the mound from Braden Williams on Thursday, visiting Buckeye Trail cruised to a 10-0 Inter-Valley Conference road victory.

Williams worked a strong five innings, allowing just three hits with two Ks and two walks.

Williams aided his own cause at the plate, finishing with a single, double along with three RBIs, while senior Canon Clum added a pair of base hits with three RBIs, and Mason McQuain finished with a pair of singles with a pair RBI.

NEXT − Buckeye Trail will host neighboring Cambridge on Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Hiland 8, Buckeye Trail 3

BERLIN − Host Hiland High halted Buckeye Trail's nine game winning streak with a 8-3 Inter-Valley Conference win on Friday night.

Senior Garrett Burga took the loss on the mound, working two plus innings allowing three runs with four Ks and five walks.

Buckeye Trail's offense was limited to singles from Burga, Cannon Clum, Braden Williams, Mason McQuain and Nick Neuhart.

NEXT − Buckeye Trail will host neighboring Cambridge on Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Shenandoah 11, Meadowbrook 5

SARAHSVILLE −Visiting Meadowbrook High enjoyed a 3-1 lead over Shenandoah heading to the fourth inning Friday night in non-league baseball action.

But in the fourth, the host Zeps exploded for five runs to grab the 5-3 lead to spark the home field comeback.

Jacob Justice absorbed the loss on the mound for Meadowbrook (3-9), tossing seven innings, allowing 11 runs on 12 hits and striking out two.

Meadowbrook finished with five hits in the road loss with Evan Dyer banging out a pair of singles, senior Easton Eibel stroked a double. Kolton St. Clair and Zayden Yeagle each chipped in with base hits for the Colts.

NEXT − Meadowbrook will visit Morgan on Monday at 5 p.m.

SOFTBALL

Cambridge 19, Union Local 3

MORRISTOWN − Cambridge High rolled to its second straight Buckeye 8 softball win over Union Local by a convincing 19-3 final score on Friday night.

The Lady Bobcats scored in each inning to pick up the five inning mercy win, and banged out a total of 19 hits in the contest.

Abby Mann collected the win in the pitchers circle for CHS, allowing two runs on three hits with nine Ks and three walks in a five inning outing.

Freshman Miranda Cole continues to swing a red-hot bat for the Lady 'Cats (6-5) with a 4-for-5 night. Cole ripped a pair of doubles, with two singles, while Jazz Bell added three singles with three RBIs. Kenzi Hickman also finished with three base hits, while Mann double, singled and picked up six RBIs for the winners.

Madison Johnson stroked a double and a single with an RBI, with Elaina Hines Janiya Conrad each contributing a pair of singles.

NEXT − Cambridge will host East Liverpool in Buckeye 8 action Tuesday at 5 p.m.

John Glenn 16, Coshocton 0 (5 inn.)

NEW CONCORD − Senior Hannah Bendle swatted a triple and double and knocked in three runs and junior Alivia Boothe added a double, single and three RBIs to pace John Glenn to a 16-0 rout over visiting Coshocton Thursday evening.

Arabella Birkhimer added two singles and two runs scored and Kinley Porter singled with three RBIs for the Muskies (7-1 MVL), while winning pitcher Bendle and senior Sarah Wayne combined on a two-hitter and eight strikeouts.

Destiny Frye had a double and single to account for both hits and Olivia Lee was the losing pitcher for the Lady 'Skins (0-8 MVL).

NEXT − John Glenn travels to Sheridan on Tuesday at 5 p.m.

LACROSSE

John Glenn 18, Buckeye Valley 3

DELAWARE − John Glenn made it's self right at home on Thursday evening, scored three times in the first two minutes and led 8-2 after one period in a 18-3 victory over host Buckeye Valley.

Senior Ethan Haney paced the JG attack with six goals, while Evan Haney, Cannon Fox and Clay Hanna added three goals and two assists each. Logan Williams had three assists, Max Morrow chipped in a goal and an assist, Jack Schaad and Joey Gormley scored a goal each and Jackson Xanders and Levi Kinnan each had an assist.

Defensively, the following at two takeaways were Nic Xanders, Aiden Gamble and Logan Williams, while Levi Kinnan went 14 of 17 on faceoffs and Max Morrow was 6 of 7 on faceoffs

Joseph Hunt made six saves in three quarters as goalie and Zach Hallowell had two saves coming on in relief.

NEXT − John Glenn treks to Wheeling Park on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

TRACK

DOVER — The Cambridge High School boys and girls track and field teams faced some tough competition at the Dover Tornado Relays on Friday with the boys finishing seventh and the girls 10th in the competitive meet.

Zoey Caldwell turned in solid effort to lead the Lady Bobcats' effort by placing in all four of her events including personal bests in the 100 and 300-meter hurdles. Caldwell placed fifth in both events finishing the 100 hurdles in 16.98 and the 300 hurdles in 50.89.

Caldwell also took fourth place in the long jump with a leap of 15-5 which put her just ahead of teammate Alexis Forshey, who placed fifth with a jump of the same distance.

Caldwell also anchored the 4×100 team with Madie Beadle, Riley Crupper, and Neveah Smith that finished fifth in a time for 54.54.

Beadle also placed fifth in the high jump clearing 4-8. Janelle Rominger placed sixth in the shot put with a heave of 30-10. Lainey Carpenter and Emily Clark tied for sixth place in the pole vault.

The sprinters led the Bobcat boys. Owen Feldner placed in four events taking second in the 100-meter dash in 11.20 and third in the 200-meter dash in 22.93. Reed Johnson placed fourth in the 200 with a time of 23.16.

Feldner and Johnson joined with Eli Edwards and Xander Caldwell to earn second in the 4×100 relay with a time of 44.08. and third in the 4×200 relay in a time of 1:34.15.

Johnson, Edwards, Caldwell and Beau Stottsberry combined to take fourth in the 4×400 relay in a time of 3:40.65.

“For the boys, Owen Feldner lead the team with an outstanding performance in all his events,” coach JR Fox said. “Reed Johnson and the 4×100 relay team performed well, too.”

Stottsberry also placed fourth in the pole vault with a vault of 12-0. Josh Atkinson placed sixth in the 110 hurdles in a time of 16.44.

NEXT − Cambridge will be in action Tuesday at the Buckeye 8 meet at St. Clairsville.
