Camden County Solid Waste Authority to hold 29th annual kids fishing derby

The Camden County Solid Waste Authority is pleased to announce that the 29th Annual Kids Fishing Derby will be held on Sat., Jun. 10 from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. Children 16 years and under are invited to participate in this year’s event.

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources program stocks the pond at the State Road 110 landfill in Woodbine, the site where the fishing derby will take place. The area is teaming with wildlife, including bald eagles and other animals.

Participants need to bring fishing poles and chairs. Prizes will be awarded for the longest fish, heaviest fish and youngest fisher. Fish will be measured from 10 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. and the awards will be presented at 11 a.m.

The Solid Waste Authority, along with sponsors, will provide hot dogs, drinks and bait. Please call 912-729-4099 for more information.

The SR-110 Landfill is located on Georgia Highway 110 in extreme southwest Camden County, approximately 2.75 miles from the intersection of Georgia Highway 40 and Georgia Highway 110.
