A new star has emerged on the front line after a tiny titmouse stole the show by landing on a soldier’s helmet and posing for the TV camera.

A serviceman from the 241st Separate Territorial Defense Brigade, known by the call sign Marek was speaking with Radio Svoboda, as can be seen in a clip that appeared on X (Twitter) on Dec. 1.

Without asking permission, the camera-friendly titmouse flew into the frame and landed on his head.

"What? It landed on me?" Marek asked when the correspondent decided to shoo the bird off his helmet with his microphone.

The tone of the interview instantly changed after that, and a sincere smile appeared on the soldier's face, despite the ongoing war and the surrounding devastation.

Such interactions between Ukrainian soldiers and animals are by no means rare, and at times, they have to deal with more exotic but less pleasant representatives of the local fauna.

While the small bird has yet to be named, he follows in the footsteps of charismatic cat Syrskiy, who recently won the hearts of Ukrainian social media users.
