Camila Cabello Reveals She’s Had a Thing for Shawn Mendes Since "I Know What You Did Last Summer"
Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes only took their relationship to the next level this past year, but sparks have been flying between them for quite a while. Camila recently revealed that she felt something for her current beau for YEARS, but time just wasn't on their side to actually start a relationship together.
"During 'I Know What You Did Last Summer,' I really bonded with him as more than a friend. I think he did, too, but we were both really young, and he was experiencing the pressures of his career. I don’t think we knew what to do with those feelings. It was this awkward thing where we both liked each other, but we weren’t together," she revealed to Rolling Stone. "It was just weird. An energy was there from the beginning, but after that song, we didn’t spend as much time together. Our paths just didn’t cross in that way romantically until we started hanging out again and writing. For me, it just brought it back."
That means that they've sort of been back and forth with each other since 2015. Imagine holding a crush in for that long! Still, it seems like everything worked out for the better as the couple has had some major success with their recent single together, "Señorita," including getting a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
Shawn revealed a while back that he also had feelings for Camila for a while, but despite the sparks, it took longer than he liked for them to finally make things official.
"If I told you the whole story of Camila, it would take a long time. I would say that you have to fight for someone you really love. And if you really truly love them, then you'll get them. It just takes time," he said in a fan Q&A. "But make sure you really love him or her. You just have to make sure."
Looks like they were very sure with one another as they can't get enough each other and neither can we.
