Thomas Weese honored for academic achievement

CHARLESTON, South Carolina — Thomas Weese of Rootstown is one more than 650 cadets and students recognized for their academic acheivements during the fall 2021 semester at The Citadel.

Gold stars are awarded to cadets and students who achieved a 3.7 grade point average or higher. Cadets and students who achieve gold star recognition are also placed on The Citadel's dean's list.

Those cadets were recognized at the awards parade on Jan. 28, where they will be presented their gold stars, which they may wear on their uniforms throughout the semester following their academic achievement. A gold star recognition certificate is awarded to non-cadet students who meet the requirements; veteran and active duty students are also awarded challenge coins.

Paige Halliwill named to President's List

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Missouri — Paige Halliwill of Mogadore has been named to the Southeast Missouri State University President's List for academic achievement during the fall 2021 semester.

Students named to the list earned at least a 4.0 grade point average and completed at least 12 hours of standard graded credit in a semester.

Area students earn degrees at Youngstown State

YOUNGSTOWN — The following local students were awarded degrees and certificates at Youngstown State University's Fall Commencement:

Reilly Ferraby named to Dean's List

NASHVILLE, Tennessee — Reilly Ferraby of Hiram qualified for the Fall 2021 Dean's List at Belmont University. Eligibility is based on a minimum course load of 12 hours and a quality grade point average of 3.5 with no grade below a C.

Ryan Zarrinmakan named to Dean's List

BETHLEHEM, Pennsylvania — Ryan Zarrinmakan of Aurora was named to the Dean's List at Lehigh University, which is awarded to students who earned a scholastic average of 3.6 or better while carrying at least 12 hours of regularly graded courses.

Kennedy Nietert named to President's List

KENNESAW, Georgia — Kennedy Nietert of Aurora was named to the Kennesaw State University Fall 2021 President's List.

A Nursing-Interest major, Nietert was among more than 5,100 undergraduate students named to the Fall 2021 President's List.

To qualify, students must achieve a 4.0 grade point average and complete a minimum of nine credit hours.

Students named to Westminster Dean's List

NEW WILMINGTON, Pennsylvania — Westminster College recently named 390 students to the Dean's List for the fall 2021 semester. Students earning this achievement are as follows:

Brandon Bloebaum named to dean's list

WAVERLY, Iowa — Brandon Bloebaum of Kent was named to the Wartburg College Fall Term Dean's List.

The college recognized 509 students for Fall Term. The list honors students who earned a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above in at least four course credits during the term.

Area students named to Bradley Dean's List

PEORIA, Illinois — More than 1,900 students were named to Bradley University's Fall 2021 Dean's List. To be eligible for the Dean's List, a student must achieve a minimum 3.5 grade point average for the semester on a 4.0 scale.

MARIETTA — Grace Tomasko of Aurora has been named to the Fall 2021 Dean's List at Marietta College.

Tomasko is majoring in Musical Theatre and is a graduate of Aurora High School.

Any full-time Marietta College student completing at least 15 credit hours with a grade point average between 3.5 and 3.74 in a given semester is recognized as a Dean's List student for that semester.

Students named to Baldwin Wallace Honor Society

Karen Towne inducted into Phi Kappa Phi

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana — Karen Towne of Kent was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Towne was initiated at The University of Kansas.

Towne is among approximately 25,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership.

Local college students earn scholarships at Baldwin Wallace

Deerfield's Ross Sings at Mount Union Christmas Festival

ALLIANCE — The University of Mount Union's Department of Performing Arts held its annual Christmas Festival titled, "Where the Light Begins" in early December.

Michaela Ross, of Deerfield performed at the festival. The soprano sang with the Concert Choir and Cantus at the three performances.

Brooke Davis named to Dean's List

ADELPHI, Maryland — Brooke Davis of Streetsboro was named to the Dean's List for the fall semester at University of Maryland Global Campus. To be eligible for the honor, a student must complete at least six credits during the term, earned a grade point average of at least 3.5 for the term, and maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.5 at UMGC.

William Criblez named to Fall Dean's List

COLUMBUS — Ohio Dominican University has named William Criblez of Mantua to its 2021 Fall Dean's List. Criblez is among 319 students who earned a place on the list this past semester.

In order to make the Dean's List, full-time undergraduate students must have achieved a 3.5 GPA or better after taking a minimum of 12 credit hours.

Grace Bollas graduates from Ohio Dominican University

COLUMBUS — Grace Bollas of Aurora has graduated from Ohio Dominican University with a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. Bollas is among 152 students who earned their degree following the fall 2021 semester.

Hannah Finley named to Dean's List

NOTRE DAME, Indiana — Hannah Finley of Kent has been named to the Saint Mary's College Dean's List for the 2021 fall semester.

To earn this academic honor, a student must achieve a grade point average of at least 3.6 on a 4.0 scale, have a minimum of 12 graded credit hours, no incompletes, and no grades lower than a C.

Haley Ross Named to Fall Dean's High Honors List

MARIETTA — Haley Ross of Aurora has been named to the Fall 2021 Dean's High Honors List at Marietta College.

Ross is majoring in Mathematics and is a graduate of Aurora High School.

Any full-time Marietta College student completing at least 15 credit hours with a grade point average of 3.75 or better in a given semester is recognized as a Dean's High Honors List student for that semester.
