Campus News: The Week of Aug. 27

Aug. 27---- Among the nearly 500 incoming freshmen at Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus were the following local students — Jeremiah Stanford of Kennesaw; and Danielle Brown and Abraham Gonzalez, both of Powder Springs. First-year students were officially welcomed to the University community at the Freshman Convocation held Aug. 9. Each student was given a silver Presidential Challenge Coin by GSW President Dr. Neal Weaver to signify the beginning of their college journey at Georgia Southwestern. Upon graduation, they will receive a gold coin in its place, bestowing the silver coin to someone who made a significant impact on them during their time at Georgia Southwestern.

— The following local students graduated from Berry College in Rome — Jason Bell of Powder Springs, earned a BS degree in Creative Technologies; Ann Dau of Kennesaw, earned a EDS degree in Curriculum and Instruction; Joseph Lewis of Smyrna, earned a BA degree in Communication; Susan Lynch Harlow of Marietta, earned a EDS degree in Curriculum and Instruction; Luqman Salam of Powder Springs, earned a EDS degree in Curriculum and Instruction; and Jennifer Shiers of Mableton, earned a EDS degree in Curriculum and Instruction.
