Canada appoints new ambassador to Ukraine

Canada has appointed Natalka Cmoc as the new Ambassador to Ukraine, replacing Larisa Galadza in the post, the Canadian government said in a press release on Aug. 24.

Cmoc is an expert on Ukraine with extensive experience and understanding of the support provided by Canada. She has previously worked as an analyst for the Canadian International Development Agency.

Fluent in Ukrainian, Cmoc has deep ties with the Ukrainian community both in Ukraine and Canada and is prepared to deepen Canadian-Ukrainian relations at all levels.

“Russia’s illegal and unjustifiable invasion of Ukraine has had major political, economic, security and environmental impacts across the globe, and Canada continues to work with its partners to mitigate them,” the message quotes Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly.

“I would like to express my most sincere thanks to Larisa Galadza, who has done a tremendous job in building and fostering an excellent relationship with Ukraine over the last four years, and I would like to congratulate Natalka Cmoc, who will continue this important work over the coming years.”
