"Global Affairs Canada is aware of the death of a Canadian in Ukraine,” stated a Canadian foreign ministry spokesperson.

“Consular officials are in contact with the family and are providing consular assistance.”

The department stressed that further details would not be disclosed due to confidentiality.

On July 18, the U.S. citizens Luke “Skywalker” Lucyszyn and Brian Young, as well as Emile-Antoine Roy-Sirois from Canada and Edvard Selander Patrignani from Sweden, were killed by Russian forces. These men were assigned to the special forces of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, based near Siversk, a city in the east of Donetsk Oblast that has been targeted by Russian troops.

On July 24, Ruslan Miroshnichenko, a commander of the International Legion of Ukraine, reported that two US citizens, one Canadian, and one Swede, perished on the front lines in Donetsk Oblast, where they served as volunteers in the ranks of the Legion.
