Canadian TikTok star Megha Thakur dies ‘suddenly and unexpectedly’ at 21
Megha Thakur, a Canadian TikTok star beloved for her positivity, died unexpectedly last week. She was 21.
Thakur’s parents announced Tuesday that their daughter died in the early morning hours of Nov. 24, Thanksgiving Day in the U.S. They did not say how she died.
“Megha was a confident and independent young woman,” her parents wrote on Instagram. “She will be dearly missed. She loved her fans and would have wanted you to know of her passing. At this time, we request your blessings for Megha.”
Thakur’s funeral was held Tuesday morning.
A student at Western University in Ontario, Thakur built a large following on social media with her messages about self-love and positivity. She was also part of a student-run fashion show at the university, the Western Gazette reported.
She had more than 900,000 followers on TikTok, and her final post read, “YOU’RE in charge of your destiny. Remember that.”
Thakur’s fans were devastated after hearing the news.
“Her posts brought so much confidence and light when I was struggling, she was always an angel, and beautiful inside and out,” one person wrote on Instagram. “I’m sorry for your loss and may she rest in peace.”
