Canal Town Book Festival planned for Friday and Saturday in Dover

DOVER — The Canal Town Book Festival, a literary project of the Dover Public Library, will be held on Friday and Saturday.

On Friday, award-winning author Julie Anne Lindsey will be the keynote speaker at the Dover Public Library, 525 N. Walnut St.

Events include music featuring guitarist Bill Hall, refreshments, a program featuring Lindsey and a book signing.

Lindsey will share her journey as a writer and how books make it to the shelves of libraries and bookstores. Lindsey will discuss the process of writing, finding an agent, finding a publisher, the editing process, advanced reviews, marketing, the book launch

Lindsey is a bestselling author of mystery and romantic suspense. She’s published more than 50 novels since her debut in 2013 and currently writes series as herself, as well as under the pen names Bree Baker, Jacqueline Frost and Julie Chase. She is the 2020 Golden Quill Award Winner for Series Romance, a double finalist for the 2020 National Reader’s Choice Award for Romance Adventure, the 2019 Winner of the Daphne Du Maurier Award for Mystery & Suspense, the 2019 Stiletto Award for Romantic Suspense and the 2019 National Excellence in Romance Fiction Award for romantic suspense.

An Author Fair will take place on from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday on the square in downtown Dover in conjunction with the Dover Exchange Club’s Canal Dover Festival. Over 40 local and regional authors will be present to meet the public, discuss writing and publishing, and to sign and sell books. "This is a great opportunity for members of the community to meet writers, talk writing and to pick up an autographed book," said Mallory Thompson, planning committee chair and librarian at the Dover Public Library. "The authors write a wide variety of things, from mystery to memoir to children's books and more. We are excited to bring back the Canal Town Book Fest for the community after a two-year pandemic hiatus."
