Canceled flights? Avelo makes 10 route changes, including 1 cancellation, from Wilmington

CORRECTION: A previous version of this story stated that flights to Sarasota and Palm Beach, Florida would be seasonally suspended after this was incorrectly stated by an Avelo Airlines representative. These routes are currently available for booking.

Avelo Airlines confirmed that a majority of its flights out of the Wilmington Airport will be suspended for the season, and one route has been completely canceled.

The seasonally suspended routes include:

  • Daytona Beach, Florida – ending Jan. 5

  • Myrtle Beach, South Carolina – ending Jan. 7

  • Nashville, Tennessee – ending Jan. 8

  • Savannah, Georgia / Hilton Head, South Carolina

  • Charleston, South Carolina

  • Greenville / Spartanburg, South Carolina

  • Raleigh / Durham, North Carolina

According to Courtney Goff, communications manager for Avelo Airlines, the seasonally suspended routes were put in place due to scheduled heavy maintenance on the aircrafts and a delayed arrival of a new plane.

“The Q1 timeline typically does have lower demand in these markets,” Goff said. “We chose to utilize this time to lessen frequencies and seasonally exit so our planes are in a good position for peak spring and summer travel.”
