Arizona voters will choose between Democrat Greg Stanton and Republican Kelly Cooper for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives for Arizona’s 4th Congressional District.

The district covers most of what was previously the 9th Congressional District. It's in Maricopa County and covers parts of Tempe, Mesa, Phoenix and Chandler.

Here is more information on the two candidates running:

Democratic candidate: Greg Stanton

Previously the mayor of Phoenix, Greg Stanton was first elected to Arizona's former 9th Congressional District in 2018.

Stanton shares on his campaign website that "his singular focus in Congress is on making your life better, and the results are speaking for themselves." Some of the other issues mentioned are an increase of transparency in government, stronger economy, affordable health care and planning for dry climate in the future.

Stanton sits on the House Judiciary Committee and on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.

Republican candidate: Kelly Cooper

Kelly Cooper is a Marine Corps veteran, owner of two Melting Pot restaurant franchise locations and co-owner of BKD's Backyard Joint.

As a first-time candidate, Cooper is the founder and chairman of the Maricopa County Republican Veterans Committee. His experience has helped him to "identify the needs of our community and where needed feed that information to both the state legislators as well as the federal Senators and Congress people for action," according to his campaign website.

Cooper's campaign issues, as listed on his website, include ensuring election integrity along with the "ability to validate" results. "In Arizona, as in so many other places, the 2020 elections were a disaster," the website says.

Cooper says he will protect the right to vote, while making it harder to cheat.

As far as the economy and inflation, the website says, "We cannot afford a repeated failure of liberal economic policies of the 1970’s again, but the Biden administration continues to double down on those failures."

Cooper wants to keep the Trump administration's Remain in Mexico policy, expand school choice while removing the federal government from education, and help the federal government and local communities work together to help veterans.
