Canova collects 13 hits in American Legion baseball win over Salem

Jun. 28—SALEM — Canova collected 13 hits en route to a 12-8 American Legion baseball win over Salem on Sunday.

Canova's Riley Genzlinger and Tanner Jacobsen had three hits apiece. Jacobsen recorded four RBIs, while Genzlinger knocked in two runs. Ryder Erickson finished with two hits and two RBIs, while Jaxon Kampshoff, Colton Spader, Kieffer Klinkhammer, Paul Winker and Jackson Remmers each had a hit. Kampshoff and Erickson each drove in two runs.

Klinkhammer struck out four batters, allowed three hits, one earned run and issued one walk in 5 2/3 innings.

For Salem, Bobby Koepsell had two of the team's eight hits. Joe Loudenburg, Avery Feterl, Raygen Randall, Parker Scheier, Gavin Gordon and Trey Claussen each had a hit. Loudenburg and Koepsell each drove in two runs. Kyle Schoon gave up seven hits, five earned runs and struck out one batter in two relief innings to take the loss.
