Can't afford to feed your family? These Portage County food pantries can help
The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank has a searchable list of food pantries on its website.
Here are some of the pantries in Portage County:
The Salvation Army, Ravenna
The food pantry at the Ravenna location at 268 W. Main St. is open from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
A Red Shield drive-thru pantry also is held in Kent on the first Wednesday of each month in Kent and the fourth Thursday of each month in Windham.
Center of Hope/Christian Cupboard, Ravenna
The Center of Hope, 1081 W. Main St., Ravenna, operates its pantry Mondays through Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The pantry is closed 11:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. Lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. weekdays, and drive-thru from 2 to 2:30 p.m. on Sundays.
Lake Brady United Methodist Church
The church, at 1995 Brady Lake Road, offers its food pantry from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. or by appointment, and a hot meal from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on the third Wednesday of the month.
Kent Social Services
Kent Social Services, 1066 S. Water St., offers The Lord's Pantry from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. weekdays, and serves lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. weekdays. On the second and fourth Thursdays, the pantry is open until 5:30 p.m. and dinner is served from 4 to 5 p.m.
Streetsboro Community Pantry
The pantry, at 8940 state Route 43, is open from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Mondays, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesdays, and 1 to 3:45 p.m. Wednesdays.
Crestwood 4C's
The pantry, at 4572 W. Prospect St., Mantua, is open Mondays from 4 to 6 p.m. and Wednesdays and Fridays from 1 to 3 p.m.
