SOUTH BEND — Most of us aren’t fortunate enough to score tickets for Saturday night’s big matchup between the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Fighting Irish.
But there are still plenty of ways to enjoy the game whether it’s at home, a friend’s house or one of the numerous sports bars in the region. Everyone has a favorite, but here are some of the suggestions that have been compiled by Visit South Bend Mishawaka, the local tourism bureau, and other sources, including Downtown South Bend Inc.
Vote: Who should be 'College GameDay' celebrity guest picker for Notre Dame-Ohio State?
⬤ Brothers Bar & Grill, 1234 Eddy St. Located in Eddy Street Commons, Brothers has plenty of televisions, a large patio, and lots of beer and food options.
⬤ CJ’s Pub, 236 S. Michigan St. Just a bit away from campus in downtown South Bend, CJ’s has long been known for its delicious burgers.
⬤ Corby’s Irish Pub, 441 E. LaSalle Ave. Located in the East Bank neighborhood, Corby’s is a popular spot for Notre Dame fans, students and alums, and it’s known for being the location of bar scenes in the movie “Rudy.” With roadway construction going on outside, patrons might have to do some wiggling to get there, but there’s plenty of parking to the north.
⬤ Linebacker Lounge, 1631 South Bend Ave. Another spot near campus, “The Backer" has always been a hotspot for students as well as fans before, during and after games.
⬤ O’Rourke’s Public House, 1044 E. Angela Blvd. Another option in Eddy Street Commons, O’Rourke’s has the Irish pub vibe with the added benefit of being located directly across the street from campus.
⬤ Taphouse on the Edge, 1803 South Bend Ave. As its name suggests, Taphouse is another spot within close proximity to Notre Dame and offers a wide variety of menu and beverage options for its customers.
⬤ Bar Louie, 7320 Aspect Drive, Granger. Less than four miles to campus, Bar Louie offers its customers a full beverage and bar menu, TVs, a large rooftop deck and the ability to avoid a lot of stadium traffic.
⬤ Fiddler’s Hearth, 127 N. Main St. “The Fid” offers a truly authentic Irish pub experience to go with its TVs, surround-sound system and game-day specials.
⬤ Mitch’s Corner Sports Bar, 1516 N Ironwood Drive. A short distance from campus, Mitch’s is another popular locally owned spot to catch a game.
Beyond these few options, there are plenty of other venues throughout the region, aiming to draw in sports fans with lots of TVs, drinks and food options. Share your favorite location by commenting on this story at The Tribune's Facebook page.
