Canton Central Catholic grad Jake Krupar named Muskingum University baseball head coach

NEW CONCORDJake Krupar, a 2013 Central Catholic High School graduate, is the new head baseball coach at Muskingum University, the school announced Monday.

Krupar was an assistant at Muskingum before stops at Wofford College and Butler University.

“I am excited to build and lead the Muskie baseball program to new heights by guiding our student-athletes to be the best possible versions of themselves that they can be on a daily basis,” Krupar said in a university press release. “I look forward to building relationships with current and future players, administrators, and alumni. I am ecstatic about the opportunity to return to New Concord and am ready for the challenges ahead.”

Krupar also has coached at Baldwin Wallace and with the Stark County Terriers collegiate summer team.

A native of East Sparta, Krupar helped Central Catholic to the 2011 Division III state championship as a sophomore (including a walk-off three-run home run in extra innings to win the district final) and lettered four years for the Crusaders. His nine home runs as a sophomore are a school record. Krupar then lettered four years for the University of Toledo.

Krupar replaces Gregg Thompson, who retired in June after 27 years at Muskingum head coach. The Muskies went 15-23 overall and 4-14 in the OAC last year.
