Julliard Arts Center, 610 Market Ave. N, also will have life-size "Frozen" characters made of duct tape outside for photo ops. Activities also include face-painting and make-and-take icicle projects.
Fromage du Monde will have white hot chocolate (spiked for an upcharge) and a free "snowball" (one per person).
Downtown restaurants, bars and shops also will be open.
Ice skating and new art exhibit at Strauss Studios
Weather permitting, the Hall of Fame City Ice Skating Rink, 215 Tuscarawas St. W, is expected to be open.
Strauss Studios also will unveil a new art exhibition by Clare Murray Adams in its upstairs gallery.
Murray works with paper, fabric, paint, encaustic wax, boxes and containers. The exhibit will be open 6 to 9 p.m.
“The layering and selected shapes of Adams’ work form intimate landscapes like past memories," said Jo Westfall, a gallery assistant at Strauss Studios, 236 Walnut Ave. NE.
Techniques include collage, printmaking, sewing, painting and assemblage.
"Despite the variety of materials and techniques, there are common threads running throughout her work," Westfall said in a news release. "Exploration of memory, reference to women and women’s work, a sense of vulnerability and observations of the natural world are reoccurring themes."
Murray Adams has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Kent State University and a Master of Fine Arts from Vermont College. The Canton native is professor emeritus of art and former chair of the visual art department at Malone University.
Stitching represents a physical thread in her artwork, holding things together in place of a line drawn with a pencil, Westfall said.
“I find the act of sewing slows my hand and my thoughts in order to contemplate the experience or memory I am conveying," Murray Adams said.
Necklace making and free group ballroom dancing class
Other First Friday activities will include a make-and-take Japanese Marimo Moss necklaces at Boomdyada starting at $20. The shop, which offers terrariums and terrarium jewelry, is at 332 Fourth St. NW.
R&J Ballroom, 401 Tuscarawas St., Suite 302, inside the Canton News Building, will offer a free group ballroom dancing class 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. The class is open to both beginners and more experienced dancers. Reservations and a partner are not necessary.
First Friday art fun
Other activities include creating ice castle artwork at BZTAT Studios, 209 Sixth St NW. The make-it-take-it artwork is $2. Gifts and artwork also will be for sale.

Admission also will be free from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Canton Museum of Art in conjunction with First Friday. Four new winter exhibitions will be on display. Hands-on art activities also will be featured in the museum's education space.
