Canton man, 24, killed in ATV accident on Somerdale Road
SOMERDALE – A 24-year-old Canton man was killed in an all-terrain vehicle crash on Somerdale Road at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.
Patrol Sgt. Clinton D. Armstrong said the southbound vehicle overturned while trying to turn right onto Sattler Bottom Road, north of Somerdale in Fairfield Township.
The driver, identified as Charles K. McKinney II, was alone on the 2021 CF Moto CForce 600.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, Armstrong said in a prepared statement.
McKinney was not wearing a helmet, the patrol said. The patrol said alcohol appears to be a factor, and the crash remains under investigation.
The patrol was assisted at the scene by the Tuscarawas County Sheriff's Office, the Mineral-Sandy Fire Department, Fairfield Township Fire Department, Affordable Towing and the Tuscarawas County Coroner's Office.
