CANTON ‒ A Canton man, wanted on 18 criminal charges, including attempted murder, was booked into Stark County Jail on Friday.

Devion L. Williams, 31, of 1540 Arnold Ave. NW, had been arrested on June 13 in West Virginia, according to WVVA-TV. The station said West Virginia State Police arrested Williams after a traffic stop on I-77 in Mercer County.

Williams was then taken to Southern Regional Jail to await extradition to Stark County.

Canton Police initially arrested Williams on April 29. At that time, he was charged with strangulation, abduction and domestic violence. He was accused of assaulting a woman, the mother of his children, and was released on bond.

Additional charges were added in May, then he was indicted by a grand jury on May 24.

On that same day, Stark County Common Pleas Judge Natalie Haupt revoked his bond — but Williams had remained on the lam until his arrest in West Virginia.
