Canton police search for suspect in shooting that injured pregnant woman

CANTON ‒ City police are searching for a suspect involved in a shooting Monday that injured a pregnant woman.

Canton detectives are looking for 42-year-old Charles Edward Turner III, who they said fired several rounds at a vehicle, injuring the front-seat passenger.

The shooting occurred at 6:40 a.m. Monday in the 500 block of Shorb Avenue NW, according to a news release from the Canton Police Department.

The victim, who was struck in the back, transported themselves to Aultman Hospital in serious condition. The victim was also approximately seven months pregnant.

Detectives have obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect for felonious assault. Turner also has unrelated active warrants for aggravated robbery and disrupting public services. He is being sought by the Adult Parole Authority for a parole violation allegation.

The investigation is ongoing.
