Canyon man killed in Randall County rollover crash

A Canyon man was killed in a single-vehicle rollover accident that occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning in Randall County.

According to a news release by the Texas Department of Public Safety, 26 year-old Brandon Boyd of Canyon, was driving a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado northbound on US 87 at 2:30 a.m. Saturday when the vehicle left the roadway for an unknown reason.

DPS stated the vehicle traveled across a creek bed, struck an embankment head-on, and rolled over end-over-end. The Silverado reached a final resting position on its top, sustaining substantial front-end damage.

The driver was transported to Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo with serious injuries. He later died from the injuries suffered in the crash.

The crash occurred five miles south of Canyon, road conditions were clear and dry. Boyd was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

This crash was investigated by the Texas Highway Patrol Troopers. This crash is still under investigation.
