We wearn’t surprised when we saw a stunning cape hit the catwalk at Temperley London’s LFW show. A token cape or two usually makes an appearance when it comes to Autumn Winter 2016.

However, only a few minutes later another hit the catwalk. This time the floral detailed cape, layered over a beautiful baby blue ruffled dress became the showstopper of the collection. It’s elegant appearance making a strong point for why we should be ditching the evening coats for a cape.

Hereafter, the capes just kept on coming! Going for a more casual daywear design was Belstaff, who used a mixture of textures for a cool heritage feel.

Erdem made another strong case for how beautiful a floral embellished cape can be. Trend alert, we think this style may be the top one to watch out for next season.

Now, by this point we had decided that although we still haven’t mastered how to work out the practicality of a cape. We mean seriously, how do you wear a shoulder bag with it? And how do you avoid getting stuck on a door handle? However, the realisation has hit that we better work it out quick because capes are going to be everywhere.

Then came Alexander Mcqueen’s sexy, sheer and drop dead gorgeous design. The embellished cape left us seeing stars as it shimmered with thousands of gold stars. The dazzling ensemble proved that there is in fact a cape for everyone and any occasion.

This morning Roksanda went for a more classic cape. Keeping the shape simple in a bold blue hue. By this point we are positive that if your outerwear has arms next season, its out.
